If you’re looking to make some extra money then you’ve come to the right blog.

Unless you’re a very lucky lottery winner, then making some extra money is probably something everyone could benefit from.

I’ve prepared a list of some simple ideas and ways you can start making extra income.

If you try combining a few of the ideas then you can start generating some extra side income.

Sell all your unwanted stuff on eBay.

‘Ones man rubbish is another mans gold’ or so they say and I’ve often found myself thinking ‘that will never sell’. However, I’ve been surprised time and time again on eBay. For example a pair of Paul Smith shoes I bought in the sale for £60 and wore several times, then sold for £90 on eBay! I couldn’t believe it!

I could probably write a whole blog just on eBay’s tips and tricks (coming soon!). If you’re not already selling your old stuff on eBay then you should download the eBay app and create an account today. Start with just one item and go from there. eBay state that the ‘average household has approximately £4000 worth of unwanted items’. They’re only gathering dust and filling up your attic. I regularly sell around £200 of stuff on eBay a month just in old clothes that I don’t be wear, old magazines etc.

Rent out a spare room

When I first bought my first flat it was an expensive time. Especially as I stretched myself to buy a 2 bed instead of a 1 bed but it was a better investment in the long term and it allowed me to rent out the second bedroom to make an extra side income. It helped to pay the mortgage and bills. The best part of it was In the UK you’re allowed to rent out a room tax free (up to about £5000 a year). It’s probably the best way to make extra money that I’ve found.

Walk dogs or pet sit

If you’re an animal lover then you could offer to walk your neighbours dog.

Manage social website accounts for local businesses

Being a social media manager can be a fun part time job. If you have social media skills then it might be something you could develop into a side earner. It’s not as easy as just sharing random content as you do need to create a strategy and reply (quickly) to customer posts, tweets and comments.

Sell things you’ve made on Etsy

Etsy is a great place to sell craft and homemade products and vintage finds. If you are a crafty person, check out this website. Etsy classify ‘vintage’ as anything over 20 years old. So even selling clothing from 80s and 90s would qualify.
