The Market

Every Saturday, you can buy delicious fresh produce including fruit, vegetables, olives, cooked meats. We also saw stalls selling clothes and books.

How to get there

Unless you are staying in Pezanas, you will need a car to get there. There is a large car park next to the market, though it does fill up quickly.

Da trip to Queribus Cathar Fortress, a beautiful Cathar fortress that brings the Cathar history to life.

A bit about the Cathars

The Cathars believed in a type of Christianity that was branded as “heresy” in the 12th to 14th centuries in Italy and France.

The Cathars were badly treated by the ruling classes.

I became interested in their history through the Kate Mosse Langeudoc Trilogy. They are absolute page turners. There is also a wealth of information on the Cathars on the internet.
